Dhananjay Dhake

A mechanical engineer by training, Dhananjay Dhake specialises in new age architectural engineering. His work experience ranges from designing and manufacturing to installing structures. He started Construction Catalysers as a design and build consortium for new age architectural engineering. The company has completed more than 200 projects since its inception all over India and abroad. Dhananjay’s forte lies in buildings with low life cycle costs, pre-stressed cable nets, bi-directionally curved glass surfaces, tensile structures, pre-manufactured and assembled components, component buildings, lightweight high strength bridges, structural sculptures and ecologically diverse environments. As a professional and through his practice, Dhananjay has designed some of the most innovative structural engineering projects that have an integrated creative vision with cutting-edge technology. He has spoken at several national, international seminars and colloquia, and is a visiting faculty at some of the leading architecture and engineering schools in India. Dhananjay is currently working towards creating service integral structures and efficient synergy of the five elements.

His Philosophy:
A mechanical engineer by training, Dhake turned to architectural engineering as a way of combining his education with his love for art. Stretching the sustainable philosophy a little further, all his buildings are mostly made of recyclable materials. It is his motto to make sensible buildings and to demolish buildings that are indicators of today’s grave issues of environment degradation and depleting resources and are also contextual to the Indian climate. It also provides a glimpse of the wonderful things that Dhake and his band of architects, engineers and designers at Construction Catalysers, the firm he set up 20 years ago, have been doing with lightweight, new-age building materials like steel, concrete, aluminium, glass and fabric. Construction Catalysers has grown to become one of the leaders in the area of space structure design and architectural realisation. With 200 employees on its roll, a state-of-the-art design and analysis tools and specialised machinery for processing steel and membranes, the company recently came up with a new facility.
